If a neon-clad cyberpunk future with laser guns and robots triggers your nostalgia, then Attack on Retro might be the slot game for you. Designed by Triple Edge Studios for the Microgaming platform, this game features a retro-futuristic theme with plenty of striking graphics detailed across its 5x3 reel, 10 payline design.
Major features include wilds, scatter symbols, multipliers, free spins and the trademarked Hyperspins mode, while the payout can reach a generous maximum of 5,000 times the stake. So, is this recent release worth betting on? Keep reading to learn about the design, features and prizes of Attack on Retro.
As its name would suggest, Attack on Retrois finished in a theme based on the 80s’ vision of the future.
The main characters, Billy and Jesse, sport cyborg body parts and era-accurate attire. Blue and purple neon lights are found throughout the main screen, while logos include synthesizers, boomboxes, robotic arms and hoverboards. Overall, this slot’s design is bright, colorful and high-energy with good attention to detail.
As if the exhilarating theme wasn’t enough, Attack on Retro offers a range of features to keep your heart pumping with every spin. This includes two wilds, represented by the aforementioned main characters. They can substitute for any symbol except each other. When Billie or Jesse create their own combinations, up to 100 times the stake is possible.
There are also random wilds, which during paid spins, can add up to 15 additional wilds to the reels when triggered. This comes to a maximum of three during a re-spin. Up to nine wilds can appear on reels 2,3 and 4 during a free spin. The scatter symbol is also an integral part of Attack on Retro.
When three scatters come into view, you get access to the slot’s free spins feature. Here you’re given a choice of three different spin modes - the two-spin mode with a 5x multiplier, five spins with a 2x multiplier or ten spins multiplied by one. You can obtain stacked wilds during the free spins and with two or three scatters, you can win additional spins.
Finally, there is the game’s unique Hyperspins feature. It works through a special button found below the reels. Each button is attached to a specific value telling you how much you need to spend to re-spin that specific reel. This can be potentially useful when trying to obtain a certain symbol for a combo.
Attack on Retro can be played with a wager ranging from $0.10 to $20. As mentioned earlier, the game has an excellent jackpot of up to 5,000 times the round’s bet. As expected though, volatility is higher than most slots and the RTP (return to player) is set to 95.58%. However, with Hyper spins mode activated, you can expect a slightly higher 96.08% RTP.
While the RTP may not be best in class, Attack on Retro makes up for it with its sizeable jackpot and wide range of features. Not only that, but the unique retro-futuristic design is sure to keep your heart pumping while you place your bets.
